Second Quarter Newsletter Update

Prayer is an important part of this ministry. We pray with each new client at the end of our interview process, and often pray with returning clients when we hear of their need. Occasionally, we have had clients come in or call just for prayer. We always ask clients’ permission to pray. Even those who aren’t particularly interested in spiritual conversation will tear up during prayer because their hearts were touched by God. Our favorite prayer story this quarter is about a homeless person with whom we prayed. Three days later he came back for a signature on a form because he found a place to stay. He told us our prayer together is what helped. Answers to prayers so blesses our hearts.
Helping Hands Healing Hearts is moving to a new location, 530 Pine St. Sandpoint Church of God has been so gracious to allow us to have this ministry in the back of their church rent free for the last five years. Now they would like to have that area for children and youth ministry. We were happy for the church and began looking for another place in June. After checking out 18 places, choices were looking bleak. On the way home from praying at the beach, God turned Cathy’s head toward a rental sign at 530 Pine St. It is a bit smaller but very nice, is move in ready and will allow our donation bin. The landlord has been awesome in working with us! Although we now must pay rent, God blessed us with a wonderful surprise anonymous donation that will cover nine months rent. How blessed we are! God so blesses this ministry because he loves and cares about the needy in our community! We are so thankful for those who hear God’s call to be vessels to aid this ministry. We will be closed to walk-ins but take phone calls during the month of August. We hope to fully reopen September 6. To be cost-effective, building a new Helping Hands Healing Hearts center on The Good Samaritan Inn property, which has always been in the plan, will need to be moved up in priority. For that we need $245K. We know God will provide.

GUIDELINES TO
SUCCESSFUL LIVING
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord.
“Plans to give you hope and a future.
Plans to prosper you and not to harm you…
You will seek me and find me
when you seek me with your whole heart”
Jeremiah 29:11, 13
Guideline #1:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
Proverbs 3:5a
This is more than a belief in God. This is where you take your faith to the point of commitment.
You put God in charge of your life.
Do you believe this tightrope walker can push this wheelbarrow across Niagra Falls ?
Will you get in the wheelbarrow and go with him?
Trust God to wheelbarrow you through the tightrope of life.
Guideline #2
And lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5b
Don’t depend on yourself to figure things out for your life; depend on God to guide you.
God is in position to see more than we can.
He can see the whole picture. Trust Him.
Image you are lost in the forest, but you make connection with a helicopter pilot through your cell phone. Are you going to listen to the helicopter pilot who can see the way out from above
to guide you out or go your own way?
Lean on God to show you the way. We learn God’s way from reading the Bible.
God’s Word is a lamp to our feet
and a light to our path.
Psalm 119:11
Read Luke to get to know Jesus. Short books of the Bible good to read.
They are little books, but have a big message.
Try reading Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, James, 1 Thessalonians.
The Bible book of wisdom is Proverbs.
Youversion, the Bible App, (iPhone or Android) is a great way to get into the Bible.
If you get into God’s Word, God’s Word will get into you.
What would this world be like if everyone followed the Bible? It would be heaven on earth.
Guideline #3
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
Proverbs 3:6a
Don’t ignore God, but look to Him in everything you do.
As you drive through town, are you going to ignore the traffic lights, road signs, speed limit,
or acknowledge and follow them?
To successfully get where you are going in life, acknowledge
and follow God every step of the way.
The Resulting Promise:
And He will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:6b
God created us and loves us. He knows what is best for us.
He wants to lead us to a good, blessed life. It’s our choice whether we follow Him.
A good tour guide will never mislead you, but instead guide you along the way,
explain all the attractions, and point out any pitfalls.
Let God be your tour guide through life.
Helps God gives to guide your life:
1. Prayer
2. The Bible
3. Christian Music
4. Mentors
5. The Church.
By being a part of a church family, you can experience all of the above!
Words of Jesus:
For God so loved the world, He gave His Only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life! John 3:16
Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind…and love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39
If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we come to him and make our home in him. John 14:23
It is our heart and prayer that you experience the successful living God desires for you.

Our Story
The former Love INC (In the Name of Christ) officially closed its doors in January of 2017. Having been housed in the back of the Sandpoint Church of God for the prior three years, the remaining assets of the ministry were “bequeathed” to SCOG. Hearing strong expressions from the community for the need of a similar ministry to fill the void, the SCOG Church Council decided to “resurrect” Love INC under a new name and renewed focus. After a “listening tour” of three months with numerous pastors and agency leaders throughout the community, “Helping Hands – Healing Hearts” was chosen as the name that would reflect the purpose and mission of the new ministry. Believing that every need is essentially a heart issue, the primary focus of “QH” would be healing hearts through helping hands. This reflects Jesus’ teaching to “use worldly wealth to make friends for eternity” (paraphrase of Luke 16:9). And so, after several months of reorganizing and preparation – in partnership with many other churches and agencies – “Helping Hands – Healing Hearts” officially opened on May 9, 2017. We celebrate this joint ministry that is helping people in need, and in the process, making friends for eternity! Thank you for joining us in celebrating God’s work through us all together!
Our Mission
Helping Hands Healing Hearts is a Christ-centered joint ministry of Sandpoint area churches and aims to be God’s vessel to lend a helping hand by providing assistance for material needs and in healing hearts by providing spiritual and emotional support to the needy in our community.
